What we cover
We publish guides to local businesses, restaurants, shopping, coastal attractions, events and leisure activities. We aim to help readers discover useful services and plan enjoyable outings without assuming that every reader is visiting on holiday.
Southport and its neighbouring places
We distinguish Southport town centre, Lord Street, Chapel Street, the seafront and Marine Lake from neighbourhoods such as Birkdale, Ainsdale, Churchtown, Meols Cop, Crossens, Marshside, Hillside, Kew, High Park and Blowick. Ainsdale’s residential centre and Ainsdale Sand Dunes National Nature Reserve are related but different settings. Churchtown is a distinct historic village area within the wider town. Banks is a separate village to the north, near the West Lancashire boundary; Tarleton is another nearby settlement, outside Southport.
Southport is within the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, and Sefton Council is the local authority. Nearby settlements can fall outside the town’s own built-up area; we name locations accurately and do not imply that every local service covers all of West Lancashire or the wider coast.
Southport Railway Station is the principal town station; Birkdale, Hillside, Ainsdale and Meols Cop stations serve different neighbourhoods. We check current Merseyrail or other transport information before providing journey advice. The pier, beach, tidal foreshore, dunes and nature reserves each have distinct access and safety considerations.
Sources and changing details
Where practical, we use sources close to the subject, such as a business’s own information, Sefton Council, venue and event pages, transport operators and relevant public bodies. Trading status, opening hours, menus, prices, event dates, attraction access and transport schedules can change. We check current details where feasible and encourage readers to confirm important information directly.
We do not invent businesses, customer reviews, ratings, prices, opening hours or event programmes. We treat the Southport Flower Show as an event to verify for the relevant year, and do not imply that the Southport Air Show or any other past event is scheduled to return without confirmation. We verify the current status of venues with changing operating arrangements, including the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre. We use current venue names and distinguish historical references where appropriate.
Coastal guidance is not a substitute for live tide, weather, access or safety information. We do not claim that all beach areas are suitable for swimming. We avoid unsupported statements about flood risk, wildlife access, property suitability, public safety or visitor numbers.
Recommendations and commercial relationships
A listing or recommendation is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify it clearly. Commercial arrangements do not by themselves determine our editorial view.
Corrections
To report a possible error, email [email protected]. Include the page address, the detail in question and a reliable source if possible. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; substantial corrections may be identified on the page.
A request does not automatically require removal or amendment. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.
Scope
Our guides are selective, not a complete directory. Inclusion is not a guarantee of quality, availability or suitability, and absence is not criticism. Confirm important information with the business, venue, organiser or authority concerned before making a decision.
